Family Literacy Day Registration

Every year, East Hants Community Learning holds an event to celebrate literacy in our community. But what is literacy? Reading is an important part of it, but there are so many other sides to literacy. From finances to technology to life skills, there is a lot to learn, and we at East Hants Community Learning love to help others learn those skills. But when it comes to any topic, understanding comes much easier when you’re having fun!

For Family Literacy Day, we like to find ways of embracing the fun side of literacy and welcome our community to take part in activities as a family or group of friends. You are not just learning these activities – you are spending time together and learning new ways to connect. It’s a great way to spend an evening together and create memories.

This year’s Family Literacy Day event will be on Friday, January 26th from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. It will be located inside our building (224 Highway 214, the old Elmsdale elementary school building). Once you enter, you will find stations with a variety of activities, including:

  • Book Readings
  • Dice & Board Games
  • A Family Story Book activity
  • Paper Arts & Crafts
  • Paper Plane Derby
  • Seed Starters

In order to help us anticipate the number of participants, please fill out the registration form below. While activities start at 6 p.m., we will be holding multiple sessions throughout the evening, so you are welcome to drop by at any time up to 7 p.m.

We hope you and your family will join us! If you have any questions, give us a call at 902-883-1608 or email communications@communityrider.com
